Use these resources to help with the planning, rollout and ongoing support of your Write About classrooms!
Explore and Pilot
Get a group of teachers to check out the opportunities on the platform and begin to integrate with their classroom writing practices.
Start With Purpose
Work with teacher leaders to define goals and what success will look like as it relates to student outcomes, school improvement goals and your schoolwide Community of Writers.
Build on Early Success
Have early adopters do share outs at a staff meeting to get others excited about the potential. Share links to student writing in a staff emails or newsletters. Have short, optional before/after school or lunch-n-learn sessions for the next wave of interested teachers.
Professional Development for Adoption
Work with teacher leaders to plan a longer hands-on session (or a series of shorter sessions) where all teachers will get their accounts set up and fully experience the platform so they can begin to implement with their students.
Supporting and Celebrating Ongoing Best Practice
Provide time for teachers to visit each others' classes to see Write About in action. Have teachers share out what is working (share student writing success and Class Pages!) and reflect on what challenges arise. Make timely ongoing connections for Write About opportunities with existing cross curricular projects, literacy goals and student data.
Challenging, Reflecting and Revising
Provide time for discussion and reflection on progress towards the School's Vision and Goals for your student writers. What should the culminating celebration at the end of the school year include? What opportunities are still being under utilized? What professional development can be offered before next year? What feedback can you provide to the Write About team to help the platform continue to evolve?
