All students on Write About are managed by a Teacher. Teachers can have up to 250 students. (Want to manage accounts as a School, instead?)
Account Types
- Non-Google: Students sign in with a username and password
- Google: Students sign in to Write About with the Google button via their school Google account
- Teachers can import their Google classroom upon or after registering with a
Google-associate Write About account. - Students can also register themselves to create a Google-associated Write About account

Teacher Code
Each teacher is assigned a 6 digit code. Students added will be associated with that code. If students are registering themselves, they will need the code to register.
Student Account Data
Required: A student first name, username and password are required.
>Usernames cannot be changed later and must be unique to the teacher. (Do not include the student full name in their username)
Optional: Last names are optional and are never displayed to anyone other than the teacher. A last initial can be used.
>Google Accounts are populated using the First and Last name in their Google data.
Options for Registering Student Accounts:
- By the Teacher (included during teacher registration OR at any time from your Manage Students area)
- Add students one at a time
- -OR- Add students in bulk using a CSV file (Download this sample CSV file that you can customize, save and use for your import.)
- Add students one at a time

- Student creates a Username and Password -OR-
- Student signs in with their Google account

Google:
- Students sign in to Write About with the Google button via their school Google account
Non-Google:
- From www.writeabout.com/signin, students sign in using your Teacher Code, their Username and Password.
Recommended: Bookmark your Custom Student Login Page (link available from your STUDENTS area) so that students do not need to type your teacher code or a username every time they sign in! Example:
