It can be scary and difficult to help students traverse the internet to find quality visual material to use with their work. We've compiled some good sources of Creative Commons images that can be used for writing on Write About:
Disclaimer: The sites listed are not part of the Write About platform. We are not responsible for any of the content they offer. It is the teacher’s responsibility to monitor photo searches with students.
Our Stance on Copyright
Write About respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. Teachers should model and teach effective search and use of media to be used with student writing.
How does attribution work?
When you use a Creative Commons license, you are staying within copyright compliance, because the originator of the work has given you permission ahead of time to use the work. However, you have to provide attribution.
The ATTRIBUTION area for teachers (Ideas and Posts) and students (Posts) should be used to cite the source of the media being used.

The transition to media-rich digital writing is an important part of students becoming lifelong writers in a technology driven world. We salute the educators who are scaffolding those experiences for students in a meaningful and safe way!
